online-betting The Paradise questionnaire - El Maxxo

In each issue, a betting alumnus faces the pitiless interrogation of the Punters' Paradise questionnaire. This month's victim: El Maxxo

Hi El Maxxo. What's the story behind your alias? There is nothing extraordinary in my alias – it is only a combination of my striving to get the maximum in predicting the outcome of football matches and enigmatic sounding showing my interest in South American football.

So why do you bet? Betting has become a passion to me. Nothing can substitute the adrenaline rush when the money is just 5 minutes away and especially when I watch them “live” coming to me.

How did you start? I started in my early teenage years when my older brother and his friend taught me how to do it in our local bookie. Since then I can’t help it.

What are you betting on now? I have tried many sports including hounds and horses but only soccer is close to my heart. All others are just gambling.

Your finest ever bet: Well, nothing particular can be said here as it all depends on money bet and money won. I do not like bragging.

Your worst ever bet: Again it depends on point of view. Worst one is the one I lost my biggest bet on a so called “sure” match.

Where do you think the value in betting is: hot favourites or underdogs? It is a whole philosophy to choose the right match for your best shot. I think that if one keeps choosing between those two categories his money are doomed. I avoid sure bets on “hot favourites” but I am not that naive to think that I can predict so many surprices that it will keep me on a positive balance.

My strategy includes a preliminary search for “hot underdogs” who are able to draw on teams from 3-rd to 8-th place in the table. I seek for former favourites who are coming out of the crisis. One thing is sure – I rarely find value under 1.5.

Best piece of betting advice you've ever received: I will just quote: “The ball is round, no one knows where it will go”. It is regarding all those who have asked themselves after a match has ended “How could they lose?! Their price was only 1.25 and it was supposed to be a sure match!”

Best piece of betting advice you can give: Actually there are a whole string of those:* There is no “sure” or “safe” bets!* If you have made a winning streak time has come for you to take a rest for a while! If you have made a losing streak it is time to take a rest too!

Never count on betting on a match that everyone bets on only because of the fact itself. Gather updated information for the teams but listen to your instincts, ask someone you respect in football sense for opinion and check all these with statistics. Only then if your pick passes 3 of those 4 it will be worth risking money.

Best bookmakers: “Globet” and “Sportingbet”. They do not have the best odds but together give a wide variety of options. Globet allow a flexible system to bet on combination with bankers while Sportingbet offer a tremendous quantity of live betting choices. And both support the “Moneybookers” option for payments.

Worst bookmakers: All those who make delays when withdrawing money, have all kind of hidden fees, do not allow singles or have a clumsy and unpleasant interface. Also those who do not support Moneybookers. And I am personally insulted by Gamebookers for the special treatment they give to Bulgarians.

What's it like betting with Bulgarian bookmakers? I will be short on this matter. There is only one bookie that is keeping the competition away and is breaking out into excesses with the odds. I cannot stand them.

Name one thing that would most improve the quality of your betting life: I have no patience and I do not know when to stop. That is fatal to every punter and I have the feeling that I will never learn.

The worst thing about betting is: I am pretty sure that betting is an illness. It is like the drugs. The only exception is that here the drugs are called “adrenalin”. Forget about the money. I need excitement and I am young. But when I grow older I expect a heart complaint.

The best thing about betting is: So be it! Excitement and fast money are what I seek in betting. Always there is hope. Always there is a second chance. Sometimes real life does not offer us so much.

Any last words of wisdom? Guys you just remember that just like after day surely comes night there are periods of losses after gaining a lot. And if you cannot get used to it you better quit betting before it ruins your life. If you’ve already got used to it – then learn to use this knowledge!
